ddHiFi XLR44B Balanced 4.4mm to 4-pin XLR adapter Review —— By SoundBsessive

Below are excerpts from the review:

“The 4.4mm balanced connector has been colonizing the balanced IEM cable market and the full size headphones aftermarket cable ecosystem for a few years. The XLR44B is an adapter designed to use this 4.4mm cables with older balanced headphone amplifiers and the many of current ones, which, for the most parts, use 4-pin XLR sockets.

The XLR44B balanced 4.4mm to XLR adapter is made of an aluminum alloy shell, and made of copper with 24K gold-plated connectors. The XLR44B is 51.7mm long and weighs 22 grams. Build quality is solid and with black finish.
I have been testing it with my ddHiFi Surface IEM and Spirit Centauri, both using replaceable cables with 4.4mm cnonectors. The contacts are tight and, in boht cases, the adapter feels very light and doesn’t add much strain to the cable at the termination.

Since 4-pin XLR and 4.4mm share the same balanced topology, the electrical wiring is straightforward, without any kind of manipulation. In my tests, its introduction inside the system didn’t bring any audible distinction in terms of noise, tonal shifts or channel imbalance.
At $40 the ddHiFi XLR44B is very practical, well built and transparent sounding.”
